Heterodontus francisci
The Horn Shark is a cold-water species (60-70F) from the Pacific coast, with a broad head, prominent brow ridges, and distinctive dorsal fin spines. It is nocturnal and spends most of the day wedged into rock crevices. Requires a large, cool-water FOWLR system of 200+ gallons — NOT compatible with tropical reef tanks due to temperature requirements. Crushes and eats sea urchins, crabs, and shrimp with its powerful jaws.
